My name is JP Maddex
I started my singing career in 1975 as a Gospel Quartet style singer.
I studied Voice with 9 Voice Coaches, learning from each of them, their unique techniques.
My course of study was facilitated at the High School, College and Private levels. With intensive training at the, Stamps Blackwood School of Music; at Murray State University in Kentucky.
I began teaching Voice in 1980, in San Diego; teaching privately in homes and Churches before a 7-year position at B&H Music in Escondido. A move to California’s Central Coast has provided me the opportunity to teach through Central Coast Music, since 2006. With the advent of Skype, I have now taught students worldwide. I have worked with my students on a total of 83 albums.
I teach all Styles and all Levels of Vocal work. My focus is working with Professionals and Recording Artists. I do however; still enjoy taking on Students that are new to Voice. I have developed my own Technique for teaching Voice. The Maddex Vocal Technique, is very easy to learn and is tailored to the Students preference in Musical Genre.
